Some weekends are better with four paws along.

Genuinely dog-friendly, not just tolerated

Heart Stone Cottage takes up to three small dogs, or one large one. Downstairs only, please, that’s the one house rule.

Day one: arrive and walk straight out

However you get here, the coast is right there. Harbour, beach and the Cleveland Way all start at the door, so the first walk of the weekend doesn’t need a plan. Just a lead.

Mind the bank

Staithes sits down a steep bank, with parking at the top. It’s a walk down and a walk back up, with steps on the way, worth knowing before you book, especially with an older or younger dog in tow.

Day two: stretch everyone’s legs

This is proper Cleveland Way accommodation, the trail runs straight through the village. Pick a stretch that suits the dog’s legs and yours, then come back to a cottage that’s already warm.

Evenings: downstairs, fire on, lead off

Log burner lit, dog fed, nobody going anywhere. That’s the whole plan.

One thing to know before you go

The outdoor space isn’t enclosed, so dogs need a lead out there. Small detail, but better knowing it now than on arrival.

If a two-night stay with your dog sounds right, take a look at our dog-friendly cottage and check dates and book direct for your stay at Heart Stone Cottage.
