Living Room
Navy and white, with original beams and a corner sofa big enough to sink into. Checked throws. Soft lighting. Grey carpet underfoot. Big smart TV with the streaming apps on it, a traditional fireplace, and shelves of local bits and pieces. It is the room you end up in. Films, a book, or a glass of wine after a day on the coast.

Kitchen
Small, and it has everything. Mustard tiles that cheer the place up on a grey morning. Open shelves with the crockery and pans on them. Integrated oven, hob, microwave and washing machine. The cottage window looks out onto greenery, which is a good spot for the first coffee of the day.

Master Room
The double. Original beams and sage-green panelling, with the bed dressed in soft linens and deep emerald. Velvet curtains. Gentle lighting. A restored fireplace. Heart-shaped mirrors and a bit of botanical decor, because of the name. Towels out, plenty of storage, and quiet.

Skinny Bathroom
The bathroom is narrow, hence the name. Wall panels, soft lighting, wood-effect floor, chrome fittings. Walk-in shower with a rainfall head, which is exactly what you want after a day by the sea. Heated towel rail, mirror, and a toilet with a hidden cistern. Small, but it works hard.

Twin Loft
Right at the top of the cottage. Original beams, plenty of light, a bold feature wall against white bedding and black-and-gold bits. Two single beds and a vintage side table. Good for friends, brothers and sisters, or someone travelling on their own. Fair warning: the ceilings slope. You will duck under a beam or two. Most people think it is worth it.

Garden
A neat little courtyard at the front, laid with artificial grass and screened by a bit of greenery. Table, bench and chairs. It sits beside a public footpath and it is not enclosed, so dogs need a lead out here. Good for a coffee and some sea air before you head off into Staithes.

Being straight with you
The old village sits down a steep bank. Parking is at the top of it.
So there is a walk down when you arrive, and a walk up when you leave.
There are steps, inside and out.
The loft has sloped ceilings. You duck under the beams. You get used to it.
The outdoor area is not enclosed and it sits beside a public footpath, so dogs need a lead out there.
None of that is a problem. We would just rather you knew before you packed.
